Combating hate requires a multi-pronged approach, involving education, community outreach, support for targeted groups, and law enforcement intervention. Al Enteshar Newspaper and CBM compiled a comprehensive list of resources to combat hate in California.

REPORTING HOTLINES AND LEGAL SUPPORT

CA vs. Hate Resource Line

The "CA vs. Hate" campaign is a state-wide effort, and its resource line is a vital tool for individuals in Southern California and other parts of the state to report hate incidents, seek support, and access resources. You can report in over 200 languages including: Amharic, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Persian-Farsi, Punjabi, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.

Stop AAPI Hate

A reporting center to track and respond to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in California.

Commission on Asian & Pacific Islander American Affairs

Resources to address hate incidents and hate crimes.

LA County 2-1-1 Hate Crime Reporting

Provides support and information for victims of hate crimes in LA.

ACLU of Southern California

Provides legal resources and advocacy in issues related to civil liberties, including combating hate.

Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Victim Assistance Program

Assists with filing for the California Victim Compensation Board (Victims of crime application).

Organizations and Community Groups Muslim Public Affairs Council

Advocates for an understanding of Islam to discourage Islamophobia.

American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC)

Committed to defending the rights of Arab-Americans. ADC offers advocacy in cases of defamation, legal action in cases of discrimination, and counseling in matters of immigration.

Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Los Angeles

Addresses anti-Semitism and other forms of hate both online and offline.

Japanese American Citizens League (JACL)

Advocacy group focusing on issues affecting the Japanese American community.

Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF)

Promotes and protects civil rights, and specifically, to conduct litigation and advocacy work on behalf of Hispanic Americans.

LA LGBT Center

Provides services and support to the LGBTQ community.

NAACP California State Conference

 Works on ensuring the political, educational, and economic equality of minority groups.

Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)

Monitors hate groups and extremists throughout the US.

CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights)

Advocacy for immigrant families and individuals.

NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

Works to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.
